Guanajuato/Gto News
In the Easter holiday season, traffic flow increases on the highway network in Guanajuato, therefore, the Secretary of Security and Peace of the Government of the People makes the following recommendations to ensure that travelers travel safe either entering, leaving, or passing through Guanajuato.

It is advisable to verify that the number of occupants does not exceed the vehicle’s capacity, plan the route to follow, check the condition of the roads, and check for possible temporary closures.

Before leaving, you should perform a mechanical check of the car’s brakes, tires, lights, oil, battery, and fluid levels. You should also bring a jack, a crosshead, a spare tire, safety triangles, a fire extinguisher, and a flashlight.
During the trip, all vehicle occupants must fasten their seat belts, including rear-seat passengers; avoid exceeding the speed limit; and consider road conditions, such as rain, fog, or curves.

You should also, maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you to react quickly to any potential road accident. Avoid using your cell phone while driving, and if you need a GPS, it’s advisable to program your destination before starting your trip.

If the journey is long, drivers should rest adequately and consider taking breaks if fatigue occurs. Furthermore, if traveling with children, it is recommended that special seats or booster seats be used appropriately for their age, weight, and height.

At least two passengers in the car must have the following numbers on hand:
089 for anonymous reporting
911 for medical, police, and civil protection emergencies
800 TE CUIDO (800 832 8436), a 24/7/365 line for reporting cases of extortion and virtual kidnapping
078 a number that provides mechanical assistance and tourist assistance on the country’s main highways
074 where Capufe offers free jump-start services, tire changes, water, and transportation to the nearest safe place

The Secretary of Security and Peace of the Government of the People reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety of all families traveling on the roads of Guanajuato.
