Libia Dennise also toured Toyota’s Motomachi Plant, a pioneer in the manufacture of hydrogen-powered vehicles, as well as the Toyota Kaikan Museum, which reflects the company’s philosophy through the present and future of mobility.

“Beyond the new challenges on the international scene, our greatest asset is to be more united than ever and to continue working together. That’s why we’re here, to show you with actions that you can count on the Government of Guanajuato. To tell you that the greatest value that unites us is trust,” the Governor told executives of the Toyota automotive company.

In Mexico, Toyota laid the foundation stone for its production plant (its second in the country) in 2019 in Apaseo El Grande and began production of the 2020 Tacoma pickup truck in 2019.

“For us, Toyota is already part of the history and family of Guanajuato,” the Governor said.

The Guanajuato plant is dedicated to the assembly of the Tacoma Hybrid Electric (HEV) pickup truck, featuring the latest technology and innovation for the domestic and North American markets; its current production totals 138,000 units per year.

“In addition to promoting sustainable mobility, we have initiatives designed to meet our goals for decarbonization and efficient use of resources by 2050. For example, our Guanajuato plant reuses 80% of its water and features solar panels,” said Takaaki Kuga, President of Toyota Motor de México.

Toyota’s expanded investment in Guanajuato, amounting to $1.114 billion in its Apaseo El Grande Plant, was announced late last year. The automotive company has accumulated an investment of more than $2.3 billion, creating more than 2,800 jobs.
