Governor of Guanajuato Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, led the ceremony to commemorate World Tourism Day and presented awards for the Merit of Tourism Innovation and Competitiveness 2022.
“The tourism sector represents a lot for Guanajuato, it means 8.3 percent of our state GDP and it is a generous source of jobs that employs more than 185 thousand people. A figure that places the State of Guanajuato in sixth place in the national employment ranking in this sector,” said the Governor.
This award is divided into 9 segments, according to the initiative based on tourism sustainability pillars, the winners are:
- In the Nature category, Coyote Canion Adventures in San Miguel de Allende
- Romance category, Fall in love in Salvatierra
- Culture category, Lights of Salvatierra
- Sports segment, the School-Villa Grandeza del Deporte
- Distilled category, Noble Indulto, from Dolores Hidalgo
- Oenological category, the Vinedo San Miguel, in San Miguel de Allende
- Gastronomic category, Restaurante Sato, in Leon and Salamanca
- MICE category, Leon Veterinary Congress
- Wellness category, the Bajio Equestrian Rehabilitation Center, in Irapuato
“Once again our recognition to the people and companies awarded today, I invite you all to continue working so that our visitors and tourists live pleasant and memorable experiences, to continue making tourism a spearhead in the economic reactivation of the State”, said Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo.
