Guanajuato is among the six states with the most tourism jobs in Mexico thanks to the support of the Government of the People
67% of people employed in the tourism sector (in restaurants or accommodation services) are women

Guanajuato is sixth in the country with the largest number of people employed in the Restaurant and Lodging Services sector, registering 205,069 jobs between January and March 2025.
Female participation stands out in this figure, as 67% of those employed in this sector are women, positioning tourism as a space for job inclusion and economic empowerment for women in Guanajuato.
The numbers in Guanajuato represent a 2% increase compared to the same period in 2024, confirming the sustained reactivation of the People’s Government’s tourism strategy and the strength generated by the state’s proximity to the tourism sector.
This is indicated by data from the New Edition National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOEn 2025), prepared by the National Institute of Statistics Geography and Data (INEGI) and analyzed by the General Direction of Tourism Intelligence of the Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the Government of Guanajuato.
Employment in this sector represents 7% of the total employed population in Guanajuato.
Nationwide, more than 4.7 million people were employed in this sector, with Guanajuato accounting for 4% of the total, consolidating its position as one of the key states in tourism employment generation in the country.
This growth is the result of actions promoted by the People’s Government, led by Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, who has made tourism a strategic priority for economic development with a social focus.
