In order to improve education, culture and science through television and information and communication technologies, the XVI General Assembly of the Association of the Ibero-American Educational and Cultural Television Stations was inaugurated.
The XVI General Assembly of the Association of Ibero-American Educational and Cultural Televisions -ATEI-; is one of the events of the Ibero-American Summit of Public Media, which is held August 7 to 10 in the cities of Leon and Guanajuato Capital.
Public media from 21 Latin American countries participate in this summit, as well as guests from international agencies from China and France.
The inauguration ceremony was led by the Secretary of Social and Human Development, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, representing Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo.
“We are very honored to host this important meeting that brings together specialists in communication, education, science and culture. I am sure that your stay in our land will be a memorable experience, with the timely accompaniment of our public television station TV4, a worthy host for all of you”, said Libia Dennise.
The Secretary of Social and Human Development thanked the Association of Ibero-American Educational and Cultural Televisions and its president, Gabriel Torres Espinoza, Director of the University System of Radio, Television and Cinematography of the Meritorious University of Guadalajara, for their friendship and trust in Guanajuato .
“In Guanajuato we highly value these meetings because they are part of our constant dialogue with the world. And more when there is a coincidence of objectives such as contributing to the development of education, science and culture”, said Libia.
Libia noted that in Guanajuato, public television has been promoted, like never before. Today TV4 is a media ecosystem that is closer not only to the Guanajuatenses here in their land, but also to our countrymen beyond the borders.
Libia noted that this year marks the 40th anniversary of TV4, “It has been 40 years of telling stories. Therefore, the realization of this international meeting becomes one more celebration”.
“I express my best wishes so that the work of these four days bears abundant fruits for the public television stations and for the society of Mexico and Latin America,” said Libia Dennise Garcia.
The President of the Association of Ibero-American Educational and Cultural Televisions -ATEI-, Gabriel Torres Espinoza, thanked the support of the Government of the State of Guanajuato for holding this Summit in Leon and Guanajuato, where for four days they will strengthen the cooperation ties between participating nations for the benefit of education, science and technology in Latin America.
ATEI’s main mission is to contribute to the development of Ibero-American education, science and culture, through the management of one of the most important educational, cultural and scientific telecommunication networks, through the digital multidiffusion of audiovisual content and formats in different televisions and network platforms.
ggATEI is made up of 95 institutions from 20 countries. These institutions include public service television channels (national, regional and local), ministries and agencies responsible for education and culture at the national, regional or local level of each country, universities or higher education institutions, foundations and centers of permanent and profesional training.
