The Government of the People reaffirms its commitment to the security of the municipality of Leon by participating in the Plenary Session of the Citizens’ Roundtable on Security and Justice of Leon, with the goal of strengthening coordination and building a safer city for all.

The reunion was attended by heads of the Judiciary, the State Attorney General’s Office, and the Municipality of Leon. They met with members of the various associations and groups that make up the citizen roundtable, led by Francisco Gutierrez Manrique, to learn about the statistics and indicators of security and justice in the municipality.

“Governor Libia Dennise has asked us to stop making excuses regarding security, and that’s why we are working and coordinating, achieving results in crimes such as the theft of vehicles and the implementation of the anti-extortion squad,” said Secretary of Government Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona.
Jimenez acknowledged the work of the Judiciary and the Municipal Government, adding: “I also thank Francisco for all his efforts, and I want to tell him that, on behalf of the State Government, you can count on our full willingness to work as a team.”

Jimenez Lona commented that with the upcoming inauguration of the Labor Courts, the Judicial Branch will have three criminal courtrooms in the municipality of Leon, which were paid with its own resources. This will allow for more hearings to be held for the benefit of the public.
For his part, the Secretary of Security and Peace, Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, presented the actions and results of the CONFIA strategy, emphasizing that security is built every day.

“We can’t just have an operational deployment: more patrols, more weapons, more personnel; we must work with intelligence, with investigation, and building solid cases,” said the Secretary of Security and Peace to the members of the Citizens’ Roundtable on Security and Justice of Leon.
“Any police officer can and is obligated to investigate,” said Juan Mauro emphasizing the need to strengthen collaboration with prosecutors’ offices to bring solid cases to justice.
He also noted the work of the Operational Intelligence Group, the coordination of State and Federal efforts, the reinforcement of the State Highway Police, the installation of inspection points in different municipalities through the “Fortaleza Guanajuato” action line, and the implementation of mobile laboratories with Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) to combat hydrocarbon theft in Guanajuato.

Juan Mauro also called for recognition of police work and for strengthening closeness with citizens: “The main input a police officer needs is the affection, respect, and support of his community.”
