“Guanajuato continues working and taking decisive action in terms of security”: Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona, Secretary of Government
The Secretary noted the actions of the anti-extortion squad in Guanajuato, a model that has been adopted nationally

“The Government of Guanajuato reaffirms its commitment to the peace and calm in Leon, through the promotion of decisive intelligence actions and joint efforts in security matters,” said the Secretary of Government, Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona.
The Secretary was at the Citizens’ Roundtable on Security and Justice in Leon, chaired by Francisco Gutierrez Manrique, where the progress on security and justice indicators in the municipality of Leon was presented.
“Governor Libia Dennise has asked us to take decisive action. Know that your authorities are working; there are positive results, and we continue working because we want to restore peace, as security is the people’s main concern,” said Jorge Jimenez Lona.
The Secretary of Government presented the main results achieved by the CONFIA strategy, which has organized the State into 10 regions to decisively address crimes such as hydrocarbon theft, highway transportation, and the fight against extortion, among other.
Jimenez Lona said that extortion is a phenomenon that affects all of Mexico, and therefore, during the regional meeting held in Nayarit, where federal authorities participated, along with the heads of seven states, Governor Libia Dennise requested the installation of signal inhibitors, since 80% of the calls for extortion purposes come from outside Guanajuato, to which Jimenez added “the anti-extortion squad has attended to more than 600 cases, avoiding the payment of 35.4 million pesos, it is very important that the victims know that the authority can give them support and accompaniment.”
The Secretary of Government emphasized that, regarding the theft of merchandise in transit, the Guanajuato government has maintained surveillance on both state and federal highways, which has already resulted in the seizure of some vehicles.
Jimenez reiterated that intelligence and coordination have been fundamental to the success achieved through the CONFIA State strategy.
