Guanajuato stands out in the StartupBlink’s 2024 Global Startup Ecosystem Index

StartupBlink launched the 2024 Global Startup Ecosystem Index, the most comprehensive analysis of the global startup economy.
The organism presented the rankings for 1,000 cities and 100 countries, highlighting the winners in the global innovation economy, recognizing IDEA GTO for its hard work and contributions in boosting Guanajuato’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
StartupBlink is an Israeli agency that registers and keeps track of ecosystems around the world. It stands out for developing the most robust startup map. The Global Startup Ecosystem Index has been carried out since 2017 and measures more than 30 variables grouped into three subindexes that feed into an algorithm. This is how it classifies startup ecosystems in 100 countries and 1,000 cities. The algorithm uses official data sources such as Crunchbase, Semrush and UNDP.
The agency reported that the Valley of Mindfacture stood out with four cities in the global ranking: Leon, Irapuato, Celaya and Valle de Santiago. This has made it the fastest growing ecosystem in Central America, jumping 180 positions. In addition, it stands out in the Foodtech and Ecommerce, Retail, IoT and Mobility industries. “Special recognition is to the IDEA GTO organization for its hard work and contributions to León’s success” the report says.
The report describes the progress in the Valley of Mindfacture:
- Guanajuato has four cities in the Index with Leon, Irapuato, Celaya and Valle de Santiago. These last three debuted in the top 1,000
- It is the ecosystem that grew the most in Central America, occupying place #9
- It advanced 303 Positions in 2 years worldwide
At the regional level it ranks:
- #2 in Hardware & IoT
- #3 in Foodtech
- #3 in Mobility
- León is ranked 7th among cities with a population of 1M-2M in the LATAM business region
During the presentation of results, Juan Antonio Reus Montano, General Director of IDEA GTO, emphasized that this achievement is the result of a profound public policy, such as Mindfacture, which promotes teamwork and focuses on promoting knowledge to the generation of solutions for and by society.
“Our public policy requires a shared identity and connection between the 46 municipalities that we already have. At this moment, Guanajuato is first place in the generation of patents in Mexico per one hundred thousand PEA inhabitants. Guanajuato’s population is more or less 6.25 million inhabitants, and we have the most dynamic automotive cluster in Latin America. We have structured our work as a region, connecting the capabilities of different locations and different actors to facilitate pathways for entrepreneurship. Our ecosystem bridges the gaps that separate cities and states. We are pleased that Guanajuato is currently represented by four cities in the StartupBlink index,” said Reus.
