In an act of pride and unity, the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato, SEG, carried out a solemn ceremony to deliver the flags of the State of Guanajuato to 53 institutions; 18 primary schools, 28 high schools, and 7 higher education institutions, the goal is to strengthen the sense of belonging and identity as Guanajuatenses, promoting it from the schools.
The coat of arms, the flag and the anthem of the State of Guanajuato are symbols that represent pride and identity for all Guanajuatenses, honoring the legacy based on history, traditions and values that make the State great.
In this context, education authorities, managers, teachers, students, mothers and fathers met at two venues to witness the significant moment.
At the High School of the University of Guanajuato in its San Luis de la Paz campus, the flag-raising ceremony was held for 28 high school students and 7 college students from the municipalities of Doctor Mora, San José Iturbide, San Luis de la Paz and Victoria, which are part of the School Republic program, with the position of presidents.
The ceremony was also held at the Morelos Elementary School in the community of Covadonga, in San Luis de la Paz, 18 flag escorts belonging to all the schools that make up the b school zone 57 proudly received the State flag. This was expressed by Alexa Aranda Rangel , a student from the Constitution School, “I feel very proud for the opportunity to receive our official flag of Guanajuato, since it represents our culture, traditions and our history”.
Hector Teodoro Montes Estrada, Regional Delegate II of the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato, SEG, addressed the education community to remind them that the State flag was born as part of the 200 years of greatness of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign State. Therefore, it is a pride to carry it, respect it, protect it and honor it, since it also represents the history of men and women from Guanajuato who forged countless actions for the benefit of society.
At both events, with the flag of the State of Guanajuato in their hands, the students took the oath to reaffirm their commitment to honor, respect and defend it with loyalty and constancy, for what it represents:
- White represents peace, freedom and harmony
- The golden color, the most precious and noble of metals, has always been associated with greatness
- The golden rim symbolizes the mineral wealth of the region, which has given Guanajuato fame and worldwide recognition
One of the most significant moments at each venue was when the education community proudly sang the anthem of the State of Guanajuato.
