Libia leads a historic moment for Guanajuato

The Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo was at the Citizen Oath of Office in the midst of a festive atmosphere and surrounded by the people of Guanajuato who reaffirmed their support for the project of the first woman to head the Executive Branch of Guanajuato.

“You don’t know how much I waited for this wonderful day to come, when I could finally be sworn in as the Constitutional Governor of this, the best State in Mexico, Guanajuato. All the women from all over Guanajuato are with me, their voices, their struggles, their causes, we are all here, from every corner of Guanajuato”, said Libia.

At this event, representatives of the Manos Unidas Collective presented a germinated seed from the white capulin tree, as a symbol that frames the historic moment in which the priest Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla wrote the intimidating letters to Mayor Riano.

Delia Ponce, the second woman to be a State Legislator, with 46 citizen representatives from all the municipalities of the State, swore in the Constitutional Governor of Guanajuato.

This will be a government that puts people at the centre, said Libia as she signed the Decalogue that will govern the work ethics of this State Administration.

“Today, the task will not be for citizens to get closer to their government, but for the government to always be close to our people,” said the Governor.

The Decalogue includes the following points:

• Let us never forget who brought us here
• The greatest right, human dignity
• Make every day count
• Fewer service windows, more citizenship
• The new way to say is by doing
• We are the example of the culture of effort
• All voices must be heard
• Zero tolerance of corruption, workplace violence, bullying and sexual harassment
• By working we are unstoppable
• You are the face of the new beginning

In front of thousands of Guanajuato residents who witnessed this historic moment, members of the legal and extended cabinet were also present; former governors of Guanajuato; State officials; as well as mayors.
