The 2nd. edition of the “Chichimeca Ocampo Equinox”, was held on Saturday, March 18 at the “El Coporo” Archaeological Zone, in San Jose del Torreon, Ocampo.
The Chichimeca Ocampo Equinox 2023 represents the efforts to revive the traditions that the ancestors carried out on the occasion of the spring solstice. This year, the objective of positioning the archaeological zone as a tourist attraction in this celebration is integrated and offers visitors the opportunity to taste traditional food.
The Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, through the Directorate of Tourist Products, promoted this event in all of Guanajuato in order to revive traditions, position the Archaeological Zone and continue reactivating the economy.
Conny Vallejo Cortes, director of Specialized Segments, and Erick Silvano Montemayor Lara, Mayor of Ocampo, informed details of the Equinox in the municipality of Leon.
Within the program, which goes from 11 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon, the Guerreros de Quetzalcoatl dance group performed in the gastronomic-artisan area, there was a purification ceremony with the Cuervo Venado Tribe. New activities were offered such as hiking, horseback riding -through the paths of the Camino Real-, and temazcal; and the new Tourist Product “Senda del Arriero”, operated by tourist guides was integrated into the offer of activities of the municipality.
The cost to access the Archaeological Zone is 55 pesos and 17 pesos for minors, a price that for this event included access to the Archaeological Zone, the gastronomic fair and the purification ceremony led by the Cuervo y Venado Tribe.
