In a virtual format the 48th Edition of the International Cervantino Festival (FIC) was declared inaugurated, 825 artists from 15 countries will participate with the best in opera, music, dance and theater.
Local artists in the festival
Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo noted that for this edition of the FIC, there will be 178 artists from Guanajuato in dance, music and visual arts.
This offer is completed with the museums of Guanajuato City, which, with the observance of preventive health actions will offer expositions of visual art coordinated with the State Institute of Culture and the Iconographic Museum of the Quijote.
A virtual Festival
“Today the curtain raised for this great feast of the human spirit, the Cervantino is on its feet, this is one of the most important cultural festivals in the world and today it reinvents in a virtual format, due to the Covid 19 pandemic crisis”, said the Governor.
“With this format we are taking care and protecting the health of artists, organizers and spectators, which is our greatest priority; this is a format with which I am sure the greatness of our Festival will reach new audiences and more countries, through the digital platforms and the Public Broadcast System of the Mexican State”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
Access reinvented
The 48th Edition of the FIC, said the Governor, has made all Authorities reinvent the access to culture in Guanajuato and Mexico, as we use new technologies and digital means of broadcasting.
“I am convinced that 2020 will go into history as the year when Guanajuato entered in a big wayinto the digital culture; just like the International Cervantino Festival, great events in our State are now digital”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
The Festival goes on
“The digital world is opening and we want to be there to use the opportunities that are being offered; the Covid 19 pandemic slowed down the dynamism of our cities, but it didn’t stop us, nor did it affect our capacity to go forward”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
“In Guanajuato access to culture and the support to talented artists, are public policies that we are enforcing to take the social development to all the corners of our State, because in Guanajuato, culture is a tool of social change”, said the Governor.
Free spirits
“Enrique Ruelas, the initiator of this Festival would say that culture is an activity that is essential in the formation of free women and men”, said the Governor.
Mariana Aymerich, the General Director of the FIC and Cultural Circuits, noted that 100% of the program of the FIC will be free to enjoy on digital platforms and public broadcast venues, to make culture available to Mexico and the world.
A tradition of almost 5 decades
“The FIC had to be reinvented so that it could continue to be a meeting point and share with the public the desire of artists to present their work as it has been ocurring for more than 4 decades”, said Aymerich.
