Mexico City/Gto News

At the National Palace, from the morning program of the Presidency of Mexico, the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, signed the Letter of Intent for the implementation of the Economic Development Hub for Well-being, which integrates the Bajio Logistics Gate project into the national strategy of Well-being Hubs, promoted by the Government of the Republic and the State Government.

The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, thanked the President of Mexico, for promoting the Bajio Logistics Gateway project, which is being implemented through the national Wellbeing Hubs strategy in 13 states in Mexico:

  • Campeche, Chihuahua, Durango, Edomex, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Michoacan, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, and Veracruz

The Bajio Logistics Gate is a “dry port” to be built in Celaya. It’s a key point where goods are consolidated, stored, and distributed using rail and road, without having to be near the sea, explained Libia Dennise.

It will be developed in partnership between the State Government and the Spanish group AZVI, with participation of Ferromex and CPKC. The first phase will be built in 51 hectares, but it can expand to 200 hectares. It will feature modern infrastructure such as rail terminals, loading and unloading areas, customs, last-mile services, and export and import connections.

This project is designed to transform Celaya and the entire Laja-Bajio region into one of the main logistics centers in the country and the continent. Celaya is one of the points where two major railway lines, Ferromex and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), intersect, and 23% of all rail freight in Mexico already passes through it.

In addition, the area is very close to major highways (Highways 45 and 57) and three automakers (Mazda, Honda, and Toyota), all within a radius of less than 50 kilometers, said the Governor.

The Governor of the People said that the inclusion of the Bajio Logistics Gate will transform Celaya and the Laja-Bajio region into one of the country’s main logistics centers.

Development will be accelerated by streamlining procedures, providing tax incentives, technical training, support for MSMEs, and attracting strategic investments.

Garcia Munoz Ledo noted that this logistics gate represents a key element in connecting the economic with the social, and the global with the local. This strategy has been in the works in Guanajuato for some time, but it will now receive a key boost.

“On behalf of the people of Guanajuato, I want to thank our President and the Secretary of Economy, for this great project that benefits Mexicans, Celaya, and its region. Thank you, President, because we have found the full support of your government for Guanajuato. Thank you very much,” the Governor said.

From September of last year to the present, Guanajuato has attracted $2,298.43 million dollars in investments, generating more than 11,000 jobs.
