The Guanajuato Opera Choir and the Leon String Quartet will offer two concerts at the Juarez Theater this Tuesday the 26th and Wednesday the 27th, as part of the Holy Week musical cycle prepared by the State Institute of Culture.
The first concert is this Tuesday the 26th and brings together the Guanajuato Opera Choir, with the Valencian Ensemble, directed by Cristina Cendejas. The “Miserere”, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, is the centerpiece of a program that also includes works by Palestrina, Rossini, Tomaso Albinoni, Ola Gjeilo and the “Stabat Mater” by Joseph Gabriel Rheinberger.
The second concert will be presented the following day, Wednesday, March 27, with the participation of the Leon String Quartet, and will perform “The Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ on the Cross”, a work composed by Franz Joseph Haydn under the commission of the canon from Cadiz, Jose Saenz de Santa Maria.
This concert contains seven movements that will be brought to life by the violins of Maksim Smakeev and Luz Aida Ponce Torres; the viola by Lydia Bunn and the cello by Ma. Cristina Ponce Torres.
Both concerts are scheduled at 6:00 p.m. Entrance costs 150 pesos and preferential admission is 120 pesos. Tickets on sale at the Teatro Juarez box office, from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the performance.
