SOP Secretary participates in the 32nd National Meeting of AMAM. Guanajuato stands out as the most cyclist State in Mexico
The State Government joins the Mexican Association of Mobility Authorities (AMAM)

“Guanajuato is the most bicycle-friendly State in Mexico, and all the conditions and opportunities exist to become a leader in mobility and road safety practices, as Governor Libia Dennise has requested,” said Public Works Secretary Juan Pablo Perez Beltran, during the 32nd National Meeting of Mobility Authorities.
In the event, held on June 26 and 27 in Bahia de Banderas, Nayarit, the head of the Secretary of Public Works (SOP) said that his department will work hard to promote sustainable mobility that prioritizes people in its projects and actions.
Participation in this event allowed the Guanajuato State Government, through the SOP, to become a member of the Mexican Association of Mobility Authorities (AMAM).
It was noted that Guanajuato is of great importance in the area of mobility, as in addition to being a highly industrialized state with enormous agricultural productivity, it is also a key State in logistics, entrepreneurship, and investment certainty.
It was also noted that Guanajuato represents the fifth-largest economy in Mexico and it is the only State with municipalized public transportation; its two largest cities have systems with scheduled and integrated services and are also members of the AMAM.
The meeting was attended by authorities from 22 states and four municipalities (including Irapuato and Leon). The association and its meetings are organized by WRI, a global research organization working to improve people’s lives, protect nature, and stabilize the climate by addressing urgent challenges such as climate change and developing concrete actions that influence policies and catalyze changes in key systems such as mobility.
“Being part of AMAM is a big step toward putting Guanajuato in the spotlight. We will work to ensure that Guanajuato soon becomes the capital of best practices in mobility and road safety in the country,” emphasized the head of the SOP.
