It is real, Guanajuato finally has a comprehensive care program for the brick sector; this strategy not only contemplates the production of blocks, but the extensive attention of producers and their families.
This is the Comprehensive Care Strategy for the Brick Sector in the State of Guanajuato, which makes available to producers of artisanal red brick, different alternatives that allow environmentally friendly processes, diversify their income and thus improve their quality of life and that of their families.
“Since I started the Administration it was one of my objectives and I promised you from the campaign. We are going to address the issue of the brick kilns, but in an integral way, with the people, so it is also a public health issue, not only for the rest of the population, but also for those who work here,” said the Governor of the State Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo.
On January 27, the Governor presented the strategy and today, six months later, the first two red brick kilns in the Ladrilleras del Refugio area were demolished.
It is estimated that with the demolition of the kilns 20,000 red bricks are no longer produced per month on average, and 130 tons of CO2 are no longer emitted.
As part of this strategy, the Cement Block/Tabicon Production Center, known as a blocker, was put into operation by Javier Gomez Vega, a producer who owned the demolished kilns and who made his first sale of 2,000 blocks to the company Construrama.
“This is going to change your lives and not only for Javier, he is going to be an example that it can be done. That is why we are here today showing this great example that things can be done, that it is not discourse. As of today, Javier has this block production center and we are celebrating his first sale of 2,000 blocks,” said the Governor.
Javier Gomez received the second delivery of 18 tons of cement from CEMEX. This was possible thanks to the agreement signed between the State Government and CEMEX, to deliver equipment for the production of cement blocks and their sale through the Construrama dealer network.
The comprehensive support program for the brick sector contemplates that the company Construrama puts on sale a special kit for self-construction (with this type of blocks), with discounts of 10% on construction materials and 15% on hardware to those who present the Card Gto Contigo Si.
This plan will begin in 9 outlets in Salamanca and 1 in Cortazar, with the goal that in 2 months it will reach more than 100 stores throughout the State.
There is also an option for producers who want to continue producing red brick, they will be presented with the Marca GTO emblem “Sustainable Brick”, which has already been registered with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property.
Another option is the one offered by Fondos Guanajuato, with its credit program to start with a block maker (150,000 pesos) or for MK2 ecological ovens that will produce the Sustainable brick (up to a maximum of 245,000 pesos).
“Here it is important to tell you that you will have all the support and supervision of SICOM and SMAOT, and you must provide the workforce. In this option there is the possibility that the Secretary of Economic Development supports them with seed capital of 100 thousand pesos; plus a grant from IDEA GTO for the stack and emissions control equipment,” the Governor said.
In the Ladrilleras del Refugio area, a Services Fair was set up to offer producers these alternatives in terms of the other options for economic diversification that have been offered to brick producers, including obtaining a formal job in a company; training and equipment to practice a trade; or open your own business in another line of production.
With the implementation of this comprehensive strategy, there are already 32 projects delivered for an amount of 1 million 071 thousand pesos and in the coming days 49 more projects will be delivered with an investment of 1 million 851 thousand pesos. Also in training and equipment to develop another trade, six projects have been delivered for an amount of 138 thousand pesos.
