Personnel of the Secretary of Migrants of the Government of Guanajuato delivered support goods to agricultural migrant workers in Leon, Silao and Romita

As part of the humanitarian work carried out by the Migrant Secretary and International Liaison, personnel of that institution visited different communities in the municipalities of Leon, Silao and Romita to provide support to agricultural migrant laborers.
This is part of the actions of the State Government to help make the stay of people who come from other States to work in the agricultural fields of Guanajuato as dignified as possible and abiding to human rights policies.
According to information collected by the SMEI, the agricultural day laborers who arrive in Guanajuato are mainly from the States of:
- Guerrero, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Puebla, Michoacan, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Tamaulipas and Chiapas
On this occasion the route was covered as follows:
- In Leon, the communities of: La Sandia, Barretos and Terreros were visited
- In Romita, they went to Colonia Rafael Corrales Ayala and the community of El Jagüey
- In Silao, the communities of Aguas Buenas, Emiliano Zapata, Medio Sitio, Napoles, La Aldeita, La Cotorra and San Francisco Puerta Chica
The work day ended with the delivery of a total of 802 blankets and 475 bottles of water.
One of the tasks of the Migrant Secretary and International Liaison is to assist and provide care to migrants who transit through Guanajuato (including agricultural laborers), to guarantee the protection and respect of their individual rights in the procedures or requirements they have.
Likewise, and in accordance with the requirements of the Secretary of Transparency and Accountability regarding the delivery of this type of support, the dissemination of social oversight was carried out through the delivery of brochures and the preparation of identification cards of social evaluation.
With this support, the State Government gives back a little of what these people contribute to our fields with their effort and work spirit.
