SDAyR invested more than $6 million to purchase stallions at Expo Ganadera Leon

More than $6 million pesos to invest in the purchase of stallions, were authorized at the support window of the State Secretary of Agro-Food and Rural Development -SDAyR-, of the Expo Livestock of the Leon Fair 2024.
Paulo Banuelos Rosales, head of the SDAyR, said that in four days of attention, 283 requests were raised for the acquisition of different species, with the support offered by the Secretary each year at this Livestock Expo.
“These are good results and we would like to have been able to support many more, but all the requests that came in were attended to and the interested ranchers were able to take the specimen that they liked and that will help them improve their herd, which gives us a lot of pleasure because that is the purpose and instruction of our governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo: to promote the genetic improvement of the cattle of Guanajuato,” said the Secretary.
Banuelos Rosales explained that this support is given through the Mi Ganado Productivo program; this is a subsidy of up to $27 thousand pesos for the acquisition of a stallion produced in Guanajuato, generally one of those exhibited at the Livestock Expo itself. The amount of support depended on the chosen stallion, but in some cases the state contribution represents up to half of the cost of the specimen chosen by the rancher.
The support window was active on Monday the 15th, Friday the 19th and Wednesday the 24th of January, as well as on February 6th, the last day of the Fair.
During those days 283 applications were received:
- 240 of species produced in Guanajuato
- 43 of out of the State species
The stallions:
- 102 applications were for bovine stallions
- 28 sheep stallions
- five of pigs
- 47 queen bees
- 67 bee nuclei
- 17 bovine bellies
- 17 pig bellies
In these requests, a state investment of $6 million 669 thousand 995 pesos was committed.
“We are glad that the ranchers came forward, they already trust and are secure that they will find the support of the State Government in this window and also of the Municipal Government, because Leon is the only municipality that also supports the genetic improvement, which is why the Livestock Expo at the Leon Fair is a great opportunity for livestock farmers throughout the state,” said Paulo Banuelos.
