The Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, delivered equipment from the State Fund for the Strengthening of Municipal Public Security to 15 municipalities in Region III.
“With these actions, we continue advancing in favor of the safety of Guanajuato families. Because that is the main objective: to have strong police officers so that the municipality is strong in its actions to guarantee peace and social tranquility”, said the Governor.
The equipment and the professionalization actions in favor of security that are being delivered today represent an investment of 43.3 million pesos, said the Governor.
Operational capacity, surveillance and patrol work are being strengthened with:
- 2 6-cylinder pick-up units
- 28 4-cylinder units
- 8 motorcycles
- 44 vests
- 67 ballistic helmets
- 209 armoured vests
- 62 portable communication equipment
“The State Government supports the municipalities so that their elements have the necessary equipment for their protection, as well as for surveillance and combating crime”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
The Governor insisted that public security is built from the local. And that is why we want local corporations to be increasingly professional and better equipped.
Therefore, the initial commitment was to create this State Fund with an amount of 600 million pesos, at a rate of 200 million pesos per year, for a three-year period. However, this year we are reaching 1,000 million pesos, the Governor emphasized.
“With all these actions, we continue advancing to maintain the safety and tranquility of the families of Guanajuato, for this reason we will continue to support our police officers”, noted the President.
The Executive Secretary of the State Public Security System, Sophia Huett Lopez, said that the elements of the corporations of these 15 municipalities received 2,475 services and professionalization actions.
Huett stressed that Guanajuato is a model at the national level in the work of providing equipment the municipal police, because “security starts from the local level.”
The Secretary added that to guarantee tranquility and social peace, teamwork is required between the corporations of the different levels of government.
