Officials agree on strategies to provide a high quality health care to Guanajuatenses

“Providing quality medical care is one of the goals in Guanajuato; it is to provide health and well-being to families, because you don’t play with health”, said Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, at the Third Ordinary Session of the Guanajuato Network of Municipalities for Health.
This Network is an integrating mechanism of municipalities that promote health; it regulates the decisions made jointly by Mayors in matters of health to promote the well-being of the population and the development of Guanajuato.
Another goal is to find solutions to priority municipal health problems, cooperation and the development of inter-municipal work programs are promoted, establishing links with State health services giving a greater promotion to programs.
“I am very pleased to see that one of the highest priorities of our government, such as health care, is shared by the City Councils”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
“There is a lot to do locally on the issue of public health, given that the municipality is closer to the person, their family, their home and their community; I am sure that with Mayors as committed as you are, Guanajuato will continue to advance as one of the most successful States in its public health policies,” said the Governor.
The degree of progress in municipal participation is known through the certification process as a ‘Health Promoting Municipality’, which is based on the principles of:
- Intersectorality, transversality, social participation and governance
The certification consists of three stages:
- Incorporated Municipality: Formation of the organizational structure that supports the actions carried out by the municipality, through the planning of activities
- Active Municipality: It is the stage where the municipality executes at least 50% of the activities and projects of the Municipal Work Program for health promotion
- Municipality Certified as a Health Promoter: In this stage, the municipality executes general activities and projects of the Municipal Work Program for Health Promotion and requirements of the Incorporated Municipality
The Secretary of Health, Daniel Alberto Diaz Martinez, said that it is important to raise awareness in the environment to have better health, and it was agreed to promote self-care in the population, where each citizen seeks individual well-being in terms of health with the disease prevention, supported and advised by the municipal authority.
“If we educate for health, competencies will be developed and an education that will be an example for new generations will be maintained,” said the Secretary.
Mayors of the 46 municipalities were present at this event, represented by José Luis Oliveros Usabiaga, President of Apaseo el Grande and President of the Guanajuato Network of Municipalities for Health; in addition to local and federal representatives and other health authorities.
Governor hands over the UMAP
The Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, handed over the Primary Health Care Medical Unit (UMAPS) of the El Puesto community, in the municipality of Celaya.
This unit will serve 18 localities, with 7,228 inhabitants, of which 47 percent do not have any health service.
For the two-stage construction of the UMAPS, a total of 6.7 million pesos from municipal sources were invested.
