SSG reaches 522,748 doses of measles vaccines

Guanajuatenses respond to the call and fill the vaccination macro-centers and centers in Guanajuato

With the application of 8,197 doses against measles, during Saturday and Sunday, the Guanajuato Health Secretary reached 522,748 vaccines applied from April 2025 to date.

In the period of 2025, 463,876 vaccines were administered; while this year the total (before this weekend) was 50,219; between Saturday and Sunday, 8,197 doses were administered, plus 456 of the zero dose.

These figures add up the doses of SR and MMR in four Macrocenters and health centers of the Guanajuato Health Secretary, an action that was inspected by the health secretary, Gabriel Cortes Alcala. Vaccination efforts continue this week.

Health Secretary Gabriel Cortes Alcala reported that the lines of people at the different locations rteveal an extraordinary response from the population because people have come willing to prevent measles and thus avoid outbreaks.

“This is a very good job for us; we know that in Guanajuato we are aware that vaccines are the best way to prevent diseases,” said the Secretary.

Cortes said that more than 300,000 doses are available in Guanajuato under special care requiring a cold chain and are being distributed to different strategic points; another shipment of 30,000 doses will arrive.

The main CAISES centers are used for its application, because they have a larger structure and if a family member cannot find the vaccine at the moment the doses will be supplied.

“It is an extraordinary response from the citizens; all the vaccines are concentrated in the central warehouse and are being distributed as centers run out of them,” said Cortes.

Next week, the supply of doses will be intensified in People’s Health Centers like CAISES, UMAPS, Health Centers with Expanded Services and public places of greater attendance.

Under this dynamic, the People’s Government, headed by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, is committed to continuing the immunization policy as the best effective strategy against this virus.

For people over 50 they should know that before the 1970s there was a high circulation of the virus, so it is very likely that those belonging to this age group have either been infected or have already been vaccinated, resulting in them having immunity.

Among the basic actions that we all must adopt to prevent contagion are frequent hand washing with soap and water, cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces, as well as adequate ventilation of spaces to reduce the concentration of viral particles.
