More than 600 professionals from the Romance Tourism segment will meet at the 14th. Edition of the LAT Weddings and Spectacular Events Congress, an event that returns to Guanajuato from July 16 to 19, based at Poliforum León.
This year, the Congress -organized by the International Association of Destination Wedding Professionals -IADWP- is inviting:
- Destination wedding planners, hotels and resorts, wedding industry suppliers, tourism offices, wedding photographers, tour operators, DCM, travel agents specialized in romance and the entire value chain to open horizons to new business opportunities.
Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, noted during the presentation that the Guanajuato industry will participate in this Congress by contributing its experience and becoming more professional.
“The collaboration that the State has with the municipalities and with the private initiative has allowed us to establish important strategies that contribute to the local tourism economy. For SECTUR, these alliances are significant because, Guanajuato has mobility infrastructure, hotels, venues, gastronomy, and an important value chain that stands out internationally,” said Juan Jose Alvarez.
With Kitzia Morales, President of IADWP, the Secretary of Tourism said that Guanajuato Capital and San Miguel de Allende, World Heritage Cities, are the most sought after destinations for couples looking to get married and have an unforgettable time..
“We are a great reference for events. In this segment, San Miguel de Allende alone generates more than 3 billion pesos and represents a number of more than 500 thousand visitors, who have come to some romantic event, which translates into a large economic benefit that is very important for the value chain,” stressed Alvarez Brunel.
“I am very happy to bring this Congress to Leon, a destination that is prepared to serve more than 600 wedding professionals from more than 20 countries. Congratulations for what Guanajuato and Leon do in attracting large events,” said Kitzia Morales.
Destination weddings, said Morales, are weddings of couples who decide to travel more than 30 kilometers from their place of origin to have a wedding. This is a business that has been growing rapidly for more than 15 years.
“In 2023, this business generated 27 billion dollars and by 2028 we expect it to reach more than 105 billion dollars, data from North American couples who are planning to have their weddings outside the United States,” said Morales.
The 3-day program includes topics of technology, finance, and new opportunities developed in education sessions and social events.
