Security holds a meeting with business leaders

State authorities dealing with security and representatives of ConMexico establish collaboration mechanisms, regular meetings, and a direct communication channel

They agree to work in a coordinated manner against high-impact crimes that affect the production, transportation, and distribution of goods

Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, Secretary of Security and Peace of the State of Guanajuato, met with representatives of the Mexican Council of the Consumer Products Industry (ConMexico) to strengthen collaboration with the business sector.

ConMexico, whose delegation was led by Juan Moya, Security Coordinator, brings together leading companies in the food, beverage, toy, personal care and household goods, pharmaceutical, sporting goods, e-commerce, distribution and logistics markets, among other.

During the meeting held at the C5i facilities in Silao, key security issues were addressed, such as cargo theft, extortion, homicides, and other high-impact crimes affecting the production, transportation, and distribution of goods.

It was emphasized that products stolen from companies in the sector are in high demand in the black market, which represents a logistics and economic challenge at both the State and National levels. At the meeting, it was agreed to establish collaboration mechanisms between the Secretary of Security and Peace and ConMexico.

The parts agreed to hold regular meetings to monitor, coordinate, and exchange strategic information on crimes affecting the sector, such as cargo theft, and to create a direct communication channel between business owners and the Guanajuato Secretary of Security and Peace.

ConMexico’s member companies are present in all 32 states of Mexico, generate 500,000 direct jobs, 2.5 million indirect jobs, and contribute 4.2% of the national GDP. Together, they have attracted more than $12 billion in foreign direct investment to the country.

The Secretary of Security and Peace announced that it reaffirms its commitment to continue working to address the demands of business organizations and strengthen security throughout the State of Guanajuato.
