Guanajuato makes a difference in the Tianguis Turistico Mexico, in the 48th edition, by creating a stand with environmentally friendly materials.

Today, in the auditorium of the Forum Mundo Imperial in Acapulco, Guerrero, Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, and the Governor of Guerrero; the Governor of Quintana Roo; and the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico; were in the space where the Guanajuato tourism sector promotes its destinations, attractions and tourist products in order to conquer international buyers.

For the second consecutive year, the Guanajuato Tourism Secretary measures the environmental impact of its participation in this most important tourism fair in Latin America. This year, Guanajuato will generate around 151.66 tons of CO2 that will be offset in the Protected Natural Areas (ANP) of Guanajuato, through the Emblem Project.

This project -between SECTUR Guanajuato, the Secretary of the Environment and Territorial Planning -SMAOT-, the German Agency for Sustainable Development Cooperation -GIZ, for its acronym in German-, Reforestamos Mexico, Civil Associations and businessmen in the tourism sector, is an intersectoral alliance for the adaptation to climate change of tourism dedicated to the restoration of the Cuenca de la Soledad Protected Natural Area and the Cuenca de la Esperanza.

“This is an important achievement that Guanajuato has had. In the construction of the stand, the use and reuse of materials that are friendly to the environment and that do not negatively impact the planet was considered,” said Alvarez Brunel.

This fact highlights Guanajuato in not only measuring said impact in the tourist events that SECTUR supports in Guanajuato through the “Guanajuato Sustainable Tourism Distinction”, focused on implementing climate change mitigation measures in the holding of events, creating awareness of responsibility with the environment in the industry, but also in the events it participates in.

In this exhibit, which promotes responsible practices, Guanajuato continues to promote the sustainable development of the activity and attract an audience interested in sustainability.
