As part of the 48th edition of the Tianguis Turistico, Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, announced three important events in Guanajuato:

  • The 8th edition of Sustainable & Social Tourism Summit in Leon -SUMMIT-
  • The 4th. edition of the National Hat Fair -FENS- in San Francisco del Rincon
  • The XXX edition of the National Congress of the Meetings Industry -CNIR- in Leon

With Sergio Rodriguez Abitia, vice president of social tourism at Sustainable & Social Tourism Summit; Luz Rebeca Espinosa Robledo, Interim Mayor of San Francisco del Rincon; and Michel Wohimuth, President of the Mexican Council of the Meetings Industry -COMIR-, Alvarez presented the details of the events to the national and international tourism industry.

These events “are efforts that have very important challenges. Only with allies can things be built and Guanajuato is a true example of the work that is done with the private initiative and the municipalities,” said the Secretary of Tourism in the 48th edition of the Tianguis held this year in Acapulco, Guerrero.

This year, the SUMMIT, to be held from July 3 to 6, 2024 in the city of Leon, will address the central theme of “Results that impact, commitments that inspire” and will have Costa Rica as a special guest, a destination that promotes sustainability socially, economically and environmentally like the State of Guanajuato.

The program includes conferences, panels and workshops aimed at businessmen, consultants, officials and tourism professionals from Mexico and Latin America, who will meet this year, for the third consecutive time, at the Poliforum León, on four thematic axes:

  • Tourism and environment
  • Tourism and society
  • Tourism and territory
  • Tourism and culture

The FENS will be held from June 7 to 9 in San Francisco del Rincon, the World Hat Capital, at the fairgrounds. This fair promotes the work of local producers and encourages the economic development of the destination. The hat is an accessory that completes any look and can be worn in different styles.

This product is mainly exported to the United States, Canada and Latin America, and countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland. The FENS seeks to generate business and be the platform where not only the hat but various products made in San Francisco are exhibited. More than 100 exhibitors including hat makers, artisans and traditional cooks will showcase their diversity of products and cuisine.

During the Signing of the Collaboration Agreement between the Association of Tourism Secretaries (ASETUR) and the Mexican Council of the Meetings Industry (COMIR), the Secretary of Tourism announced that the National Congress of the Meetings Industry -CNIR- will meet at Poliforum , from June 19 to 21 of this year, to 600 professionals including Meeting Planners, meeting destinations, Convention and Visitors Bureau, Tourism Secretaries, Travel Agents, and media.

This important event aims to contribute to the professionalization, competitiveness and business generation of the value chain of the meetings industry in Mexico.
