Guanajuato asks for more vaccines against Covid 19 for the winter season

The head of the GTO Health System, Dr. Daniel Diaz Martinez, reported that new boosters have been requested from the Federal Government against Covid 19 to cover the winter season in Guanajuato.
A new batch of doses is expected to be shipped in the coming weeks and application sites will be announced in due course.
The boosters will be applied to older adults and people with some comorbidity.
This protective action is like what happens with the reinforcement of influenza that is carried out during the season of greatest contagion.
Daniel Diaz explained that, although the trend in contagion and comorbidity of Covid 19 is going down, there are still deaths from this disease, in addition that a rebound in cases is expected for the winter season, according to the behavior that the coronavirus has had in these almost 3 years of pandemic.
Besides, the World Health Organization has not considered this pandemic over.
For this reason, he invited the population to keep taking care of themselves and get vaccinated, adopting, of course, protection actions such as the use of face masks and frequent hand washing.
- He added that in the same way, the arrival of second doses for other groups of the population for the application in Guanajuato is awaited.
Martinez also said that mortality is recorded mostly in people with some comorbidity and in people with incomplete vaccination schedules.
