The Association of Mexican Sommeliers, Guanajuato chapter, held the graduation of 27 people, from the 2nd. generation of International Sommelier and the 4th. generation of Sommeliers in Wines, respectively, with the aim of promoting the Guanajuato wine industry and service.
Ramon Alfaro Gomez, Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development –SDES- highlighted that the Guanajuato wine sector ranks 4th place as a wine producer in Mexico, hence the importance for the administration of Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo to promote local wines.
Guanajuato places wine not only as a good or product, but as an integrating agent of its economic and tourist commitment.
To take advantage of this ecosystem, SDES implements strategies that directly involve the associated sectors for the development of wine tourism, strengthening and increasing the production, marketing, consumption and promotion of Guanajuatense wine.
The future of Guanajuato as a wine tourism destination in Mexico is to provide wineries with knowledge and infrastructure to create an innovative business model and new marketing channels, in addition to combining them in a Wine Cluster.
The Government of Guanajuato works in actions that allow to continue the positioning of products of Guanajuato and the tourism sector, being protagonists and a benchmark for economic development by promoting viticulture as an engine of recovery in the economic activity of Guanajuato.
