Mothers, fathers, and the education community of Guanajuato joined the School Cleaning Day on August 28 and 29, to ensure that the schools are in decent, safe, and hygienic conditions for the start of the 2025–2026 school year.

As part of the School Health Participatory Committee Session, maintenance and rehabilitation activities were carried out, including reforestation of green areas, painting and waterproofing of roofs, cleaning of classrooms, refurbishing restrooms, and fumigation of common areas. Special attention was also paid to cleaning community dining halls to provide a healthy environment for students.

The initiative seeks not only to prepare schools for the return to classes, but also to strengthen the shared responsibility and sense of belonging of the education community.
At the Belisario Domínguez Kindergarten in the El Llanito community of Dolores Hidalgo, parents participated in cleaning classrooms, green areas, benches, and windows. “It was very satisfying to see everyone’s participation. I hope this unity continues throughout the school year,” said parent Alondra Nayeli Beltran.

At the Concepción Juarez “La Conchita” elementary school in Valle de Santiago, parents joined forces to provide decent, risk-free spaces. Karla Urrutia Mora, mother of second- and fourth-grade students, emphasized that “joining these projects allows our children to attend classes in a pleasant, disease-free environment.”

Similarly, at the Henry Wallon Community Center in Celaya, mothers and grandparents agreed that participating in these events strengthens family unity and fosters values. “It’s a way to show our children that we care about them,” said Berenice Guerrero Gonzalez.

In the municipality of Leon, Zone 1 of the General Secondary Schools organized a cleaning and renovation campaign at various schools with the participation of teachers, administrators, students, and parents.
The work included painting classrooms, refurbishing furniture, cleaning restrooms, and maintaining the sports fields at General Secondary Schools 23, 24, and 29, as well as at Telesecundarias 799, 1094, and 1070.

Thanks to a joint effort, school communities now have renovated facilities that will allow them to start the school year in better conditions.
With this actions, the Government of Guanajuato and the Secretary of Education reaffirm their commitment to the education, health, and well-being of children and adolescents, promoting safe environments for their academic and personal development.
