For the second time, San Miguel de Allende is named the Best City in the World 2025 by Travel+Leisure

Travel+Leisure, one of the most influential travel magazines, awarded San Miguel de Allende first place as “World’s Best City 2025” in its prestigious World’s Best Awards for the second consecutive year.
“San Miguel de Allende is one of our strong elements. When we go out to the world to promote Guanajuato, San Miguel is the magnet that brings us more tourists. But it’s also a treasure that we must open up more to the world,” said Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, Secretary of Tourism and Identity for the People’s Government of the State of Guanajuato.
The announcement is part of the 30th edition of this international survey, with responses that come solely from the magazine’s readers. The methodology considers aspects that make up the complete experience of a destination: the hospitality of its people, its cuisine, its historical sites, its cultural offerings, and the quality of its services.
This is the second time that San Miguel de Allende has reached first place globally and is the only city in the world to also receive recognition from Condé Nast Traveler, another highly regarded publication, consolidating its international tourism leadership.
The city’s soul lives on in its historical and cultural attractions, such as the Parish of San Miguel Arcangel, whose neo-Gothic silhouette dominates the skyline, and the Sanctuary of Jesus Nazareno in Atotonilco, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.”
Its historic center, with more than 250 monuments, preserves the splendor of the Baroque and Neoclassical styles in perfect harmony, captivating visitors.

Also on Travel+Leisure ‘s 2025 World’s Best Hotels in Mexico list, Guanajuato stood out with two properties located in San Miguel de Allende:
- The Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, which took first place nationally and was recognized for the third time as a Readers’ Favorite thanks to its exceptional service and authentic atmosphere
- Casa de Sierra Nevada, A Belmond Hotel, which took third place nationally and was number one in 2023
