For the second consecutive year, Guanajuato assumes the leadership of the Ruelas Community Theater Project, which in this edition will share three new productions: “ZZZ Onomatopeya del buen dormir”, “Suenos tan reales” and “Torre del agua”, nourished by oral tradition, the memory of the elders and fantasy.
“ZZZ Onomatopoeya del buen dormir” is presented by the San Ignacio Community Theater Group of San Luis de la Paz under the direction of Lorena Kasper Torres. SHH! is a happy, hard-working and friendly town where all its inhabitants live in harmony. Their recipe is to sleep deeply and get a good rest. However, one day, nightmares took over this unique place. Now, a pair of brothers will have to find a solution to put an end to these malevolent beings.
“Suenos tan reales” (Dreams So Real) is presented by the Nuevo Valle de Moreno Theatre Group led by Jose Antonio Alvear, with the play the group transport us to the streets, squares and corners of this community. Sometimes, when there is silence and children listen to their elders, fantasies come to life and become visible. Legendary souls tell us their stories, the ones they lived in the same places where these boys and girls now play.
“Tower of Water” is a play presented by the San Xido de Cabras Group from San Miguel de Allende, directed by Roberto Avendano. What is that tower that appears in the water? the grandson always asked. Now that the drought has uncovered the remains of a town, the grandfather answers and takes the opportunity to tell the story of his childhood, lived in that community that was submerged under water. The play rescues the memory of the inhabitants before they were displaced from the territory that is currently the Allende dam.
