The “Teatro de la Ciudad” of Purisima del Rincon, one of the most modern and new stages in Guanajuato, will celebrate its fourth anniversary with a special program of five free shows from July 19th to the 23rd.
The groups invited to celebrate the Great Stage of El Rincon are:

- The Son del Monton Collective

- The Lasafueras Company, from Costa Rica
The program starts on July 19 with the presence of Comparsa La Bulla, a company with more than 20 years of experience and a presentation that fuses circus art, clown and live music. “Fachilisimo” is the most recent of its creations: It is an entertainment that reflects on responsible consumption and healthy eating through four Italian-Chilangos cleaning workers who see life without any complications, because everything is “Fachilisimo” for them.
On Thursday the 20th is the opportunity for the local talent with the presentation of the Children’s and Youth Symphony Orchestra Vientos Musicales de Purísima del Rincón, which will share the program “Playing and dancing”, which combines orchestral versions of children’s rounds and songs popular Latin American songs, such as “La comparsita” and “Moliendo cafe”. Antolino Ayala Gonzalez will be the guest conductor.
“Afroson”, a Guanajuato show premiered at the 2020 International Cervantino Festival, will return to the Purisimenses stage this Friday the 21st. It is a concert in tribute to the black roots in Mexican music, which, with poetry and dance, makes evident the relations between some genres of the Mexican son and the music of West Guinea, Africa.
The show, which brings together regional sounds from the Sierra Gorda in Guanajuato; the Leeward of Veracruz, the Tierra Caliente of Guerrero and the Chontal region of Tabasco, is also part of the Music Festival: Raíz México; a circuit animated by artistic groups from the Central-Western region of Mexico.
Chamber music will be present on Saturday the 22nd, with a concert by the Leon String Quartet, which on this occasion offers works by Mozart, Rachmaninoff and Caprioli. The group is made up of prominent musicians who have developed their careers in Guanajuato: Luz Aida Ponce Torres and Maksim Smakeev, on violins; Maria Cristina Ponce Torres, on the cello and Djamilia Rovinskaia, on the viola.
The celebration closes with “Entre Quijotes”, a stage show from Costa Rica presented by the Lasafueras company, under the direction of Andrea Catania. It is a children’s piece of dance, pantomine and theater, based on the novel by Miguel de Cervantes that takes the public through a labyrinth of playful experiences and poetic confrontation.
All the activities of the fourth anniversary of the Teatro de la Ciudad have free access. No prior registration, reservation or ticket pickup is required. It is enough to arrive well in advance to the event.
