Based on the forecast issued by the National Meteorological Service (SMN) regarding weather conditions that will affect Guanajuato, the Secretary of Security and Peace, through the State Coordination of Civil Protection, calls on the population to reinforce prevention to avoid risks during the 2025 rain and cyclone season.

According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), Guanajuato is forecast to experience showers with heavy rainfall (25 to 50 mm) since Tuesday, June 3, intermittent showers (5 to 25 mm) on Wednesday, and isolated showers (0.1 to 5 mm) on Thursday, June 5, and Friday, June 6. This extended forecast anticipates an active start in the rainy season in Guanajuato.

The forecast rainfall could include lightning and hail, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying areas, landslides, and flash flooods in rivers and streams. Wind gusts are also expected that could knock down trees or billboards.

The rainy and tropical cyclone season in Mexico formally begins on May 15 in the Pacific and June 1 in the Atlantic, and will extend until November 30. For 2025, the formation of 14 to 19 tropical systems in the Pacific and 11 to 15 in the Atlantic is expected, the remnants of which could impact the State.

Therefore, the State Civil Protection Coordination reiterates the importance of the State’s 46 municipalities reinforcing preventive actions particularly in densely populated areas, areas near waterways, and mountainous regions.

Drivers are reminded of the importance of respecting speed limits. In case of rain, it is recommended to reduce speed and turn on the headlights to prevent accidents.
In any risky situation, report to the Single Emergency System at 911.
