Prevent accidents during vacation

The State Civil Protection Coordination urges everyone to avoid risks at spas and other aquatic spaces, and to strengthen the supervision of minors during this holiday season

Operation San Cristobal continues its deployment at tourist and recreational sites, but prevention begins with families

The holidays are here, bringing with them sunny days, pools, family outings, and time to relax and spend time with loved ones.

To ensure a peaceful holiday season, the Secretary of Security and Peace urges citizens to take extreme precautions and prevent accidents.

In Guanajuato, 127 resorts and 124 reservoirs of water have been identified as hot spots. In response, the State Civil Protection Coordination is conducting preventive inspections and strengthening awareness-raising efforts throughout the country.

Operation San Cristobal, operating from April 10 to 27, deploys surveillance and support actions at resorts, dams, rivers, lagoons, tourist centers, and communication routes, in coordination with rescue teams and both municipal and federal authorities. Even with operational presence, the first line of prevention lies within the family, through self-care and civic co-responsibility.

Follow these recommendations: 

• Do not go into swimming pools, rivers, dams, lagoons, canals, etc. without knowing how to swim or without the appropriate safety equipment
• Always supervise children and adolescents when they are near water
• Do not dive in unknown areas or areas with poor visibility
• Do not expose yourself to dangerous currents or swim under the influence of alcohol
• Avoid recreational use of dams, rivers, or canals, as they are not designed for that purpose
• Respect the signs and follow the instructions of Civil Protection
• In case of emergency, call 911 immediately
• Dial 089 for anonymous reports or reports of dangerous situations

Security and peace are a shared responsibility between authorities and citizens. Let us take care of our families, especially our children, prevent tragedies, and always remember that the most precious thing we have is life.
