As part of the vision of a Government that is close to the people and focused on the territory, the Secretary of Economy of Guanajuato, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, visited the San Felipe de Jesus Market, where she met with the merchants to listen to their needs, challenges and proposals.

The Secretary reaffirmed the commitment of the People’s Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, to promote a Government of less desk work and more presence in the field, one that visits markets, walks its corridors, and builds public policies based on the reality of those who sustain the economy every day.
In 2025, an investment of over 800,000 pesos was made in the San Felipe de Jesus Market, benefiting 42 merchants, for the comprehensive remodeling of restrooms, the renovation of stairs, and the improvement of the warehouse’s image.
In Guanajuato there are more than 270,000 economic units, of which 131,500 belong to the commercial sector, representing almost 50 percent of the total, highlighting the importance of public markets as spaces of identity, coexistence and sustenance for thousands of families.
Today, Guanajuato has 129 public markets, 440 open-air markets and 4 wholesale markets, where more than 100,000 merchants work, who are an essential part of the economy and social fabric of Guanajuato.
Through the “My Market” program, the Secretary of Economy is promoting the modernization of wholesale markets by improving their image, competitiveness, and providing training. During the current administration, more than 1,900 businesses have received support with equipment and productive capacity building, and in 2026 alone, an additional 1,400 businesses in various municipalities will receive assistance.
By being close, the People’s Government reaffirms its commitment to work hand in hand with local businesses, fostering the creation and preservation of more jobs, and promoting the entrepreneurial spirit of the people of Guanajuato to increase their business development.
