The paving of the Canaveral Boulevard will be a reality, after this project was announced by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo on April 1 in the city of Leon.

The Ministry of Public Works (SOP) issued the decision on the bidding process, declaring Espinosa Ingenieros Constructores, SA de CV, the winner. The company will be responsible for paving Canaveral Boulevard, from Vicente Valtierra Boulevard to Juan Alonso de Torres Boulevard or Eje Metropolitano.
In this project, that will be completed over a period of 341 calendar days, the People’s Government will invest $173’724,444 pesos.

Juan Pablo Perez Beltran, Secretary of Public Works, said that, after the ruling, it will be a matter of weeks before the construction begins; he indicated that it will most likely begin by the end of August, once the financial and legal procedures for signing the execution contract have been completed.
The section to be paved extends from Vicente Valtierra Boulevard to Juan Alonso de Torres Boulevard/Eje Metropolitano and is 1.08 kilometers long. A 420-meter bike lane will also be built, with similar features to those planned for the new roadway, for the already paved roadway, which does not have this space exclusively for cyclists.

“These are some of the important projects we’re undertaking, and they will have a significant impact on reducing traffic on Airport Boulevard,” Perez Beltran said.
The Official said that the roadway will be made of hydraulic concrete and will have three lanes of traffic in each direction, each 3.5 meters wide. It will also have a 13-meter-wide center median where a 2.5-meter-wide two-way bike path will be built, along with 3-meter-wide sidewalks on both sides of the boulevard.

He also mentioned that at the intersection with Juan Alonso de Torres Boulevard/Eje Metropolitano, there will be acceleration lanes for exiting or merging onto that road.
Perez Beltran also noted the benefits that the construction of this road will bring, such as the connection it will provide to an area with a high level of housing and services, including the Leon General Hospital, the High Specialty Hospital, and the campuses of the University of Guanajuato and the Technological University of Leon.
