The Guanajuato Health Secretary, through the VIII Health Jurisdiction, is fine-tuning the attention activities of the “Peregrino Operation” 2025.

The purpose is to provide protection to the health of pilgrims as they pass through the municipalities under the Jurisdiction, on their way to San Juan de Los Lagos, Jalisco, through preventive actions in terms of basic sanitation coordinated with municipal authorities.

Medical care services are provided to pilgrims who may need them.

The operation to allow pilgrims to cross the border to San Juan de los Lagos is implemented simultaneously, covering rural areas and urban colonies in the five municipalities under the jurisdiction of the VIII Health Jurisdiction, carrying out the actions in camps, overnight areas, identified rest points and pilgrim crossing areas.

The main care required during the operation are:

• Attention to healing, care for sprains, hypertension, and dehydration
• Also medical consultations, medications and medical care will be provided to patients requiring urgent hospital admission

To assist in the transit of pilgrims, the Jurisdiction collaborates closely with the areas:

• Protection against health risks, epidemiology and health promotion in coordination with the CAISES and municipal agencies such as Firefighters, Red Cross, Civil Protection, Municipal Health, DIF, Municipal Public Services, among other

• If you feel sick, go to the health unit
• Identify the leader of the pilgrimage
• Use of face masks to protect the respiratory tract from low temperatures
• Carry anti-bacterial gel with you
• Wash your hands before eating and after going to the bathroom
• Do not consume foods of suspicious or dubious origin
• Find safe and hygienic places to rest and spend the night
• Dress as warm as possible
• Perform faecal whitewashing
