“We all are Civil Protection” was the motto that marked the commemorative ceremony for National Civil Protection Day in Guanajuato at the C5i facilities. On this day, State authorities remembered those who are no longer with us, but also honored those who remain here, ready to respond to any emergency with preparation, commitment, and love for their homeland.
Luis Antonio Guereca Perez, State coordinator of Civil Protection, led the ceremony and noted the commitment of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo and the Secretary of Security and Peace, Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, to prevention as the cornerstone of peace and public protection.
In his message, Guereca Perez paid tribute to the victims of the earthquakes of September 19, 1985, and 2017, as well as to those who have dedicated their lives to serve others.
The Official also noted the fundamental role played by emergency services, from volunteers and brigade members to medical personnel, firefighters, police officers, soldiers, and sailors, many of whom have come to the rescue during these national tragedies. Guereca emphasized that Guanajuato has historically been present in these moments and continues to strengthen its response capabilities today.
On behalf of the Secretary of Security and Peace, Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, Guereca recognized the efforts of Civil Protection personnel who have bravely faced recent contingencies such as forest fires and the rains that have impacted various areas of the State.
The importance of joint work among all security-related agencies was also emphasized. “I want to emphasize the importance of coordination between the security and civil protection institutions of the 46 municipalities, the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), and the National Guard,” said Guereca Perez.
Finally, the Official emphasized that prevention and citizen preparedness are just as important as operational response.
Three first-response units, equipped pickup trucks, were also delivered, as well as uniforms for the operational staff of the State Civil Protection Coordination. This reinforcement seeks to improve the capacity for immediate response in emergencies as part of the ongoing efforts to build peace.
Authorities and operative commanders of Security and Civil Protection in Guanajuato were present in the ceremony.
