In an important day for VW in Guanajuato a new timely and excellent production has started

Guanajuato continues as the spearhead in technology in the world as the production of the new VW EA211 engine started in the Plant Silao of Volkswagen Mexico. This engine will be used on new units assembled in North America.
A positive impact
“With this new model, the production capacity of the plant will increase significantly. There will be a positive impact for all the supply sector of the auto industry and a greater economic income will come for the State”, said the Governor of Guanajuato Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo.
“This company means commitment with Guanajuatense families, not only in jobs, but also in the way they care for the environment and for the social responsibilities. This company provides a great help to our economic and social development”, said the Governor.
The engines for vehicles in North America
At the Silao plant 1,500 new engines are produced a day, and starting now this engine adds on to the new model of the SUV TAOS for North America with an investment by the company of $233.5 million dollars to build a new production line, one that also increases the generation of jobs for Guanajuatenses.
For the production of this engine new production lines were set up, for monoblocks, crankshaft, cylinder heads and connecting rods, as well as a new assembly line.
Historical production
This investment occurs as Volkswagen celebrates 40 years of production in Mexico. In all, the historical production of engines of the plants in Puebla and Guanajuato, are well over 14 milion units.
“The State Government and the productive sectors keep working united, generating strategies to advance faster in economic recovery. The presence and work of companies like Volkswagen, add up to our effort”, said the Governor.
A great labor alliance
Steffen Reiche, CEO and the President of Volkswagen Mexico said that this engine strengthens the production and the presence of the company in Guanajuato.
“We have developed new opportunities for our workers and their families with the support of the State Government and together we form a great labor alliance. Today we celebrate the start of the engine EA211 and we are sure that this success story will continue for many more years in Guanajuato”, said Reiche.

This new engine, he explained, will include the most modern technology to improve the performance of our vehicles and it is a production that shows the commitment of Volkswagen for the recovery of the economy of Mexico and Guanajuato.

The environment
Volkswagen has committed to reforest and plant 165 thousand trees by 2025, in the La Soledad and La Esperanza basins, in Guanajuato.
“We use our commitment when we create projects of reforestation in Guanajuato and Puebla and we will have reached a million of planted trees by 2022”, he added.
Chritopher Glover, the Vice President of Production of Volkswagen Mexico, thanked the State Government for the labor synergy that opens doors for the development and growth of the Guanajuatense talent.

Even more investment
The Volkswagen plant in Silao was inaugurated in January 2013 with an investment of 550 million dollars, and by the end of this year they will announce another investment for 118 million dollars.
As Volkswagen opened its doors it generated 473 direct jobs, and to date it has more than 1,200 jobs and it is the plant number 100 of Group Volkswagen in the world.
