Municipalities celebrate 200 Years of Greatness

The State Government calls on the municipal authorities to continue building the Greatness of Guanajuato

The 46 City Councils celebrate the 200 Years of Guanajuato as a free and sovereign federative State

“Today more than ever we have to be proud of Guanajuato, today more than ever we must continue building our destiny and contribute to our country, Mexico would not be understood without Guanajuato”, said the Secretary of Government, Jesus Oviedo Herrera.

The Official represented the Governor, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, as he led with the Mayor of Leon, Alejandra Gutierrez Campos, the Solemn Session of the City Council on the occasion of the 200 years of Guanajuato as a free and sovereign federative State.

“Guanajuato has been there in the most important moments of our Nation and Guanajuato would not be understood without the value of our people, like that of this municipality”, said Oviedo.

“Guanajuato is a rich mosaic of success stories, personal and collective, today it is our turn to continue that legacy of greatness, as Guanajuato people, we have a powerful, hard-working, visionary DNA, we have a rich, splendid and fruitful land”, said Oviedo Herrera.

The Secretary of Government invited all municipal authorities to continue promoting the greatness of Guanajuato, since we have a glorious history that is the platform to continue building a present and a bright future.

“Guanajuato has always been the main protagonist in the past, in the present and in the future of Mexico, we were precursors of freedom and justice, we are the Cradle of National Independence and also the Cradle of Federalism”, said the Official.

“We were one of the first States that formed the Federation, after Independence in September 1821, and after a brief empire of Agustin de Iturbide, Mexico would become a Federal Republic made up of Free and Sovereign States.

“It was thus that in 1823 the Mexican Federation was founded based on the Constitutional Act, to which Guanajuato adhered on December 20, 1823, once again being the spearhead in the political development of our country”, noted Oviedo.

The Secretary pointed out that the character and determination of the people of Guanajuato marked the Mexican identity and the sense of belonging to Mexico.

“The land that saw the birth of the independent nation assumed a new leading role in the construction of the Republic, being one of the first states that formed the Federation, today we are celebrating the 200 years of that historic event”, said the Secretary.

“200 years in which Guanajuato has been a key actor in the defense of freedoms and democracy, as well as in the construction of a prosperous nation, with development opportunities for the population”, said Oviedo.

The state, said the Secretary of Government, has people who have been present in Guanajuato in practically all areas of national life:

• Art, culture, cinema, music, research, the creation of institutions, among others

“Because Mexico was born here, and it is also the place where brave women and men formed the Federation, and just as we had brave women and men in the past, we have them in the present. People who have made Guanajuato what it is today, like the people here”, said Oviedo.
