Guanajuato has been and will be a protagonist in the past, present and future of the Country, because Mexico was born in this State. The entity was a precursor of freedom and justice when the National Independence movement began here, in historic venues such as the magnificent Alhóndiga de Granaditas.
The early morning of September 16 is one of the most important dates for Mexicans and they commemorate it with the traditional Grito de Dolores which, in 1810, was attributed to the priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla.
