The state government is doing actions in favor of family reunification, to retake affective values and bonds of mutual support between parents and children and strengthen family identity.
Juan Hernandez, Secretary for Migrants and International Affairs –SMEI-, was at the Bajio International Airport to say goodbye to the first group of 31 adults from 60 to 85 so that they can meet again for 30 days with their daughters and sons who, due to geographic and migratory circumstances they have not seen for more than ten years.
“Governor Diego Sinhue Rodri.guez Vallejo has asked us to do actions like these, which motivate us to continue working so that migrants and their loved ones meet again and move forward together, as a family”, said Hernandez.
The Secretary said that this is the first group of “Silver Miners” to leave Guanajuato after a period of 2 years due to the Covid 19 pandemic and that with the “Club Esperanza Guanajuatense” they will arrive in Tennessee where they will be reunited with their relatives.
The head of the SMEI said that the Secretary helped with the visa applications, accompaniment to the American Embassy and with the accompaniment in the trip from Guanajuato to the reunion with their children and offers a small welcome gathering.
“The return will be on September 21, relatives will take their parents directly to the Tennessee airport, so that personnel from the Secretary will accompany them back to Guanajuato,” said Hernandez
Some of the “Silver Miners” and their families, amid tears and emotional words, thanked the Government of the State of Guanajuato for the support they received to make this a reality.
“My mother is going to visit my brother Roman Adrian who is in the United States and they have not seen him for 25 years and thank God they were able to, because recently my father almost passed and now they are fortunate that they will see him again. Thanks to the governor who provided them with all the opportunities in terms of paperwork, transportation to Mexico City, this dream came true,” said the daughter of one of the older adults.
“It is with great pleasure that we send greetings to the Governor on behalf of all the others who are gathered here, this time he really supported us, but we thank him very much. I haven’t seen my son for almost 10 years and I’ll be with him soon,” said one of the “Silver Miners.”
Juan Hernandez said that the travelers in this group are from the municipalities of:
- San Luis de la Paz, Dolores Hidalgo, Leon, Irapuato and Abasolo
