As part of the celebration of the traditional San Juan and Presa de la Olla Festivals, the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, led the Traditional Breakfast with the Mining Sector, reaffirming the link between the State Government and one of the most emblematic economic activities in the region.

“Today I want to reaffirm that commitment to the mining sector of our beloved State so that it continues to be a thriving industry, one that fills this State with identity and pride,” said the Governor.

The event, held in the courtyard of the Secretary of Finance, brought together business and union leaders, authorities from all three levels of government, and community representatives for a space for dialogue and recognition of the historical, economic, and social role that mining plays in Guanajuato.

The Governor emphasized that Guanajuato is a mining region par excellence, with a tradition dating back to the year 1548, and that it is part of the identity of its inhabitants. Libia emphasized that it has supported thousands of families for generations.

“I believe that today, more than ever, the mining sector, society in general, and governments must be united in addressing the challenges facing this great industry. Today, our commitment remains to move Guanajuato forward, reflecting on where we want to take mining, where we want to take the industry, and, of course, where we will move as a society to guarantee a Guanajuato of opportunities,” said the State Governor.

Currently, the mining sector of Guanajuato generates more than 3,600 direct jobs, with active projects in the municipality that is the Capital and new initiatives underway in Salamanca, Comonfort, and Juventino Rosas, while feasibility studies are underway in Dolores Hidalgo. All of this is part of the Bajio Mining Cluster, a developing ecosystem that seeks to integrate suppliers, universities, and government to spark innovation and growth.

Guanajuato ranks sixth in the nation in gold and silver production, and fifth in sulfur production, with significant output in the first quarter of 2025:

  • 603 kg of gold
  • 14,785 kg of silver
  • 2,539 tons of sulfur

The Governor emphasized that this event not only celebrates the economic importance of the sector, but also contributes to preserve the traditions that give Guanajuato its identity and pride.
