40% of private investment that exceeds 500 million dollars will be allocated to technology and innovation in Walmart’s first automated distribution center in Mexico

We are very happy because this is the first investment of many more to come in this New Beginning, this shows us that investors trust in Guanajuato,” said Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Walmart Distribution Center (CEDIS) in Silao.
This CEDIS will be developed on 9.5 hectares of construction surface within a 45-hectare property; the investment will be 548 million dollars, of which 40 percent will be allocated to technology and innovation to have the first fully automated CEDIS in Mexico.
This investment will create 1,044 permanent direct jobs.
“We will continue to strengthen all this investment so that it translates into opportunities for the families of Guanajuato, so that these jobs become a form of progress for our people,” said the Governor.
“There will be more good news for our beloved Silao, because we will continue to decisively promote the logistics vocation of our State and that consolidates us, due to our geographical location, as a reference throughout the country”, said Libia.
Walmart de Mexico and Centroamerica is one of the main self-service chains in Mexico, with more than 2,700 stores throughout the country and employs more than 230,000 people, 50 percent of whom are women.
This company offers a wide variety of products in different formats such as Walmart Supercenter, Bodega Aurrera, Superama and Sam’s Club.
Walmart has a presence in Guanajuato with 145 business units:
- 60 Bodega Aurrera Express, 33 Bodega Aurrera, 28 Mi Bodega Aurrera, five Sam’s Club, 16 Walmart Supercenter and three Walmart Express
- In addition to upcoming openings that will be announced in the municipalities of Salamanca, Apaseo el Grande and Cortazar
In the Government of the People, for the 2024-2030 Administration, the goal has been set to:
- Attract investments for 8 billion dollars
- The creation of 120 thousand new jobs
- The support of 70 thousand Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)
- Granting of 60 thousand credits
- The support of 50 thousand Women with Hope through an empowerment policy for them, which includes productive project programs, training and financing for entrepreneurs, etc
