I believe in a Guanajuato where all people can feel free and not brave for being who we are: Governor

Guanajuato/Gto News

“I believe that a Guanajuato where all voices are heard is an inclusive Guanajuato, a Guanajuato that advances in the recognition of all rights,” said the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, at the inauguration of the 1st State Forum on Human Rights “In Alliance for a New Beginning”.

The goal of the Forum is to promote and disseminate a culture of respect for Human Rights, from a comprehensive and inclusive perspective of the public service and citizens belonging to groups in vulnerable situations.

“I am a woman who believes that Guanajuato is great because we all contribute to the greatness of this State, a Guanajuato where all voices are heard, where all rights are respected and where all people can see and feel free and not brave for being who we are,” said Libia Dennise.

The aim of this event is to contribute to strengthening respect, culture and promotion of human rights; to raise awareness among public officials regarding the way they serve civilians and needs of these population groups, in search of innovative actions to address them; to learn about and disseminate the mechanisms and procedures for care, support and service to migrants, indigenous people, people with disabilities, as well as those with sexual and gender diversity.

As part of this forum, the Keynote Presentation: “Challenges of public policy to guarantee human rights from an intersectional analysis” was held by Nashieli Ramirez Hernandez, President of the Human Rights Commission of Mexico City.

Four roundtable discussions were also held:

  • “Dialogues for Diversity: Making Gender Dissidence Visible”
  • “Challenge in Construction: Inclusion of People with Disabilities in Public Employment”
  • “Challenges of International Migration”
  • “Dialogues on Indigenous Communities and Afro-Mexican People”

The 1st State Forum on Human Rights “In Alliance for a New Beginning” reflects several principles of the People’s Decalogue, guaranteeing respect and well-being to groups in vulnerable situations and fighting against discrimination.

The forum promotes inclusive dialogue with panels focused on diversity, disability, migration and indigenous communities. It implements mechanisms and policies that respect and protect human rights. It also brings the Government closer to those who need it most.

This forum, organized by the new Secretary for Human Rights, was held in the commemoration of International Human Rights Day, celebrated on December 10, and allows for the visualization of the activities, mechanisms and operation of the areas of this State agency.
