Libia Dennise takes oath in the State Congress

She becomes the first woman Governor of Guanajuato

In a Solemn Session of the State Congress, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo was sworn in as Governor of Guanajuato. “Today, as I take this legal oath, which has never before been taken by a woman, I also do so by naming the women of Guanajuato”, said the Governor.

“Like Maria Josefa Marmolejo de Aldama, Tomasa Estevez, Maria Guerrero Manrique, Carlota Bravo and the Insurgent Women of Penjamo, Catalina Bravo de Navarro and Virginia Soto”, said Libia.

“As well as Josefa Teresa de Busto y Moya, Emma Godoy, Maria Grever, Esperanza Zambrano, Tessy Lopez Goerne, Maria Luisa “La China” Mendoza, Maria Elena Morales Sanchez, Aurora Jauregui, Olga Costa, Eloisa Jimenez… the first Legislator  of this Congress, Margarita Solis Rangel… to the searching mothers and to the women, to the girls and young women who long for a better Guanajuato,” said the Governor.

Libia noted that “today we begin to write a new beginning with the help of the people. We will turn words into actions and promises into results, without leaving anyone behind.”

“We will make this historic moment go beyond the walls of this building and take to the streets, because that is where our reason to be lies: to serve the people of Guanajuato with all our hearts”, said Libia Dennise.

Libia said that today marks the beginning of the People’s Government. Today, a new stage of reunion and reconciliation begins, “This government will be one of permanent presence, of hard work, maintaining my firm commitment to resolve the main challenges that our State faces”.

The Governor emphasized that “the new beginning is already under way. Guanajuato and Mexico need us united”.
