More than 20 artists presented an exhibition of painting, engraving and photography

With an artistic exchange between Mexico and Austria, the San Miguel de Allende Festival of the Arts –FASMA- began at Casa Europa Mexico, an event that ends on August 20.
Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, was at the opening ceremony with Eduardo Adame, president of Casa Europa Mexico and organizers of the event, and Mexican and Austrian artists.
Austria is the guest country of honor in this second edition of the festival that invites Guanajuatenses and tourists to enjoy more than 100 activities ranging from classical music concerts and opera, to conferences with renowned writers, art exhibitions, workshops, theater, and international dance and film shows, of which close to half are free or at low cost.
“We recognize the work of Casa Europa Mexico, which with dedication, pertinence and discipline has achieved great projects, which makes Guanajuato feel proud of the participation of citizens in cultural issues. Today, 34% of visitors to the State are attracted by culture”, said Juan Jose Alvarez.
The first activity of FASMA was an exhibition of painting, engraving and photography put up by artists from Mexico:
- Mariana Vega, Francisco Javier Chua, Ruben Leonardo Valdivia, Los Subterraneos Collective, Marco Antonio Acevedo, Luis Enrique Munoz, Hector Merino, Al Rabi Arredondo Nova, Erasmo Ortiz Palacios, Jaime Barragan and Hector Garcia.
Also participating were artists from Austria:
- Petra Theresia Quehenberger, Marco Amadeo Popp, Victoria Haas, Matthias Kretschmer
From Germany:
- Florian Mahler
From Macedonia:
- Viveka Biondic
From Slovenia:
- Sebastián Seremet
Attendees were delighted with the works of:
- Plastic artist Penalta, who presented his exhibit “Return to matter. A counterweight to artificial intelligence”, supported by the Austrian Embassy and the Austrian Cultural Forum
Artist Miguel Angel Sotelo, who presented his work “Juegos de Guerra”, with the support of UNAM San Miguel de Allende
“In this 2nd. edition more than 30 organizations participate in FASMA, a great cultural festival for all San Miguel residents and tourists. Very grateful to the State of Guanajuato and the Ministry of Tourism for the support they have given us; and thanks to Austria, one of the great sources of art, for accepting the invitation and the support to contact and bring various artists”, said Eduardo Adame.
