The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato holds a junk removal campaign in El Escoplo, a rural community in Romita
Romita/Gto News
As part of the dengue prevention and control efforts, the Junk Removal Campaign was successfully held in the community of El Escoplo, in the municipality of Romita.

The main objective was to remove from homes and streets all unusable objects such as tires, drums, tubs, pipes, and other materials that could become breeding grounds for mosquitoes that transmit dengue, Zika, or chikungunya, in addition to preventing other diseases related to the accumulation of waste.
Thanks to the active participation of the community, a total of 2,320 kilograms of junk was collected, representing a major step forward in public health care.

The Secretary of Health expressed its gratitude to the residents for their commitment, whose collaboration made the event a success.
Health Officials urged not to let our guard down and to continue taking preventive measures at home to maintain healthy environments.

They reminded and called on everyone to consistently apply the following actions: Wash, Cover, Turn over, and Throw away objects that accumulate water, in order to prevent the proliferation of the mosquito that transmits dengue.
Currently, more than 270 cases of dengue fever have been detected in Guanajuato. Mosquito control requires the active support of citizens, as most mosquito breeding sites are found in homes, in containers with still water.
Fogging is not the primary solution, as it does not eliminate mosquito larvae; the most effective measure is to prevent water accumulation and keep patios and containers clean.
