With the aim of bringing the university community closer to the cultural richness of Japan, the Technological University of Leon held the Japanese Calendar Exhibition, a cultural display that allows visitors to appreciate the creativity, design, and artistic tradition of the Asian country through various visual pieces.

The exhibit was made possible thanks to the support of the Consulate General of Japan in Leon, which collaborated with the institution to share this exhibit with students, teachers and administrative staff of the university.

The event was attended by university authorities and representatives from the Japanese consulate.
Rector Christian Padilla Navarro acknowledged the significant influence of Japanese culture in Mexico, highlighting the academic exchange and cultural collaboration that has been strengthened over the years.

Padilla emphasized that one of UTL’s objectives is to continue building bridges of collaboration with Japan through initiatives that enhance the academic development of its students.
Padilla noted that initiatives such as internationalization scholarships to Japan and academic visits by teachers to the eastern country are part of the institutional strategies to strengthen learning and the global vision of the university community.

“We are convinced that these exchanges not only transform the lives of our students, but also strengthen the friendship of Mexico and Japan for future generations,” the Rector said.
The Deputy Consul General of Japan in Leon, Yukiko Takahashi, thanked the organizers for the invitation to participate in the opening of this exhibit and noted the collaborative work of the Consulate General of Japan in Leon, the calendar association in Japan, and UTL, which made it possible to present this exhibition that highlights design and shares part of Japanese art with those who enjoy the culture.

Takahashi emphasized that work continues to strengthen cooperation ties between Mexico and Japan, recognizing the interest and participation of institutions such as UTL, whose initiatives contribute to generate increasingly solid collaborative links between both countries.
The authorities performed a tour of the exhibit to appreciate the Japanese calendars that reflect different artistic styles and representative elements of Japanese culture.

The cultural day continued with a stage presentation by university students, who narrated the story of Kiyohime, a traditional legend from medieval Japan that is part of the country’s folklore.
Students offered a dance performance inspired by the creative universes of Studio Ghibli, highlighting the artistic talent and creativity of the student community.
The Technological University of Leon reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive education of its students, promoting spaces for cultural exchange that strengthen international understanding and enrich the education experience of the university community.
