The Government of the People, through the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity, led by Lupita Robles, proudly celebrates the 12th anniversary of Jalpa de Canovas, Purisima del Rincon, Salvatierra and Yuriria as Magic Towns.

These destinations represent the historical, cultural and natural wealth of Guanajuato, reaffirming the commitment to promote tourism as a tool for integration, economic and social development, as well as recognition of the entire tourism value chain in these towns of Guanajuato.

Since the creation of the Magic Town program in 2001, Guanajuato has strengthened its tourism identity with six destinations included in this strategy. This recognition not only promotes the well-being of communities, but also positions the State as a responsible tourism benchmark both national and internationaly.

Located in Purisima del Rincon, Jalpa de Canovas a picturesque town, invites you to reconnect with nature. Among walnut trees, quinces and walnuts, visitors can enjoy activities such as hiking, kayaking and bike tours. The gastronomic offer, with dishes such as walnut mole and chard tamales, complements an unforgettable experience in its boutique hotels and relaxation spaces.

Recently declared a Monument Zone by presidential decree, Salvatierra is an emblem of Guanajuato’s cultural wealth. Known as the “First City of Guanajuato,” it combines its colonial charm with more than 300 historical monuments, such as the Batanes Bridge and the Temple of Carmen. Its cuisine, highlighted by the traditional “larga,” invites visitors to enjoy unique flavors in an environment of tradition and poetry.

Yuriria, home to the first hydraulic work in Latin America, stands out for its lagoon and the former Augustinian convent. It also has two protected natural areas that are home to fauna such as gray foxes and migratory birds. Crafts made of tule, shawls and small replicas of canoes reflect its cultural identity, while its gastronomy, with the traditional michi broth and peanut tamales, delights all visitors.

Lupita Robles, Secretary of Tourism and Identity, emphasized that these three Magical Towns are an example of the collective effort to preserve our tangible and intangible heritage; the Government of the People, she said, will continue to promote responsible tourism as an engine of development, integration and social reconciliation.

With each magical corner, Guanajuato consolidates its identity and development of the tourism sector, also ensures the experience of its visitors and honors its cultural and natural legacy, highlighting the magic of its land and its people.
