The Government of Guanajuato, through the Secretary of Migrant and International Affairs, received at the Felipe Angeles International Airport the 5 members of a family from Irapuato that was stranded in Israel, as the armed conflicto erupted.
The instruction of Governor, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, is permanent and consists of the SMEI maintaining communication with the Mexican Embassy in Israel.
The Embassy reported that a first group of Guanajuatenses left that country on the morning of last Tuesday, October 10, aboard a Mexican Air Force plane and made a flight of approximately 20 hours.
“We are very grateful to all the institutions, specifically to Governor Diego Sinhue, we are here safe. The Secretary of Migrant supported us a lot to communicate, put pressure on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs so that we were included in this plane in which not all the Mexicans are yet, since there are still people there,” said Franco Soria, an Iraqi citizen repatriated voluntarily from Israel.
According to information from the Secretary of National Defense –SEDENA-, the Mexican Air Force -FAM- and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs –SER-, 135 nationals repatriated from the area of Israel and Palestine traveled on this plane.
The route outlined for this rescue mission was:
- Santa Lucia Military Air Base 1 in the State of Mexico, Canada, Shannon in Ireland, Turkey and Tel Aviv in Israel and the same for the return with an extra stopover in North Carolina, to land at AIFA
The mexicans arrived around 7:20 p.m., got off the aircraft to take the official photo, along with military personnel, and subsequently carried out the corresponding migration process.
“I am very happy, I am excited, I want to hug my family, very happy, thanks to the Migrant Secretary of Guanajuato, they helped us fill out the forms and formats to be able to board this plane, they were attentive to us, they never left us alone”, said Suggey Onate, a Guanajuato native voluntarily repatriated from Israel.
“Thank you very much, I never thought it would be done so quickly, I thought we would be one of the last people to manage to board and leave Israel, for taking us into account and being the first to help,” said Suggey.
Once the protocols were completed, staff from the Secretary of Migrant and International Affairs transported this Irapuatense family by land back to their home.
More Guanajuatenses are coming
According to information collected by federal agencies and the State Government, a group of 8 people from Guanajuato are traveling on the second flight of the Mexican Air Force.
They were contacted by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs to board that aircraft and leave the Tel Aviv terminal and return to Mexico.
Meanwhile, other groups of Guanajuatenses are waiting for confirmation of the time on their return flight to Mexico to be scheduled for this Friday.
Some people in this situation reported that they would look for alternatives through commercial flights and traveled by land to the border OF Israel and Jordan to start their return to Mexico.
Others have already registered and filled out forms with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who are waiting to be called to board the next military plane.
So far, military personnel report that the general health status of Mexicans on both flights is optimal. Among the people voluntarily repatriated from Israel and Palestine, there are 3 pregnant women who remain under monitoring by a specialist in aerospace medicine.
